This comes from the 18th century when expensive cloths like silk were imported to and from Europe. Merchants would mark a flaw in the weave by tying a small string at the bottom, indicating it was imperfect. Even today, when a tailor asks for flawless cloth, it is “with no strings attached.”
Hopefully this got your attention. Perhaps the new name and delivery day of this electronic newsletter will too…
In an attempt to 1) better communicate with our CCA parents, 2) provide important school information on a weekly basis, and 3) respect your busy lives and schedules from too many “blast” emails, CCA will be moving from two monthly Thursday “Gazette” newsletters, to a new and more consistent weekly electronic newsletter format, which now comes one day earlier on Wednesday.
On the first and third Wednesday of every school month, CCA parents will now receive the CCA “EAGLE” (which is what you are reading right now!) As you can see, the EAGLE has undergone a face-lift, and it replaces the CCA Gazette. The renamed EAGLE will still contain the same school information/upcoming events/deadlines/flyers and letter(s) from CCA Administration as in the previous Gazette.
On the second and fourth (and infrequent fifth) Wednesday of any given school month, CCA parents will receive the CCA “EAGLET.” (You may have already noticed two EAGLETs that were sent out for a “test-drive” last February.) Each EAGLET allows our CCA staff, committees, and parents to share important information with CCA parents during the intervening weeks between EAGLEs. Simply put, EAGLETs will contain all the information from the EAGLE minus the Administration letter(s).
Our hope is that by providing CCA families with one consistently “high-quality” weekly electronic newsletter, in conjunction with repositioning numerous “blast” emails into the weekly EAGLET, CCA parents will be more likely to read the single electronic newsletter we send home each week.
Also, if you wish to post something in either the EAGLE or EAGLET, please send your copy electronically to Megan Mitcham email@example.com by noon on any given Tuesday.
Welcome to the EAGLE and EAGLET !
I also realize that while this is certainly too brief of a thank you, I would like to recognize Rohini Ananthakrishnan and Shana Alaniz, along with over 70 parent volunteers, for another truly fantastic CCA Multicultural Festival. It is truly my favorite school event, and I with to thank everybody that volunteered or attended. What an amazing celebration of our wonderful CCA diversity!
